US, China, and EU Diverge on AI Copyright and Data Edge
deliprao · x · 2026-07-19
The AI sector is seeing a massive divergence between the EU, the US, and China regarding copyright issues and model capabilities.
- US: Labs superficially care about copyright while secretly testing the boundaries.
- EU (especially Germany): Dislikes the current methods of acquiring AI training data but will ultimately still enjoy the conveniences brought by AI.
- China: Open-source model developers can access various ideas, copyrighted texts, and anime characters without restrictions.
This unrestricted flow of content and ideas objectively constitutes a significant advantage for Chinese developers.
