Neural Network Training Has Been Standard Since the 70s

François Fleuret points out that people have been training artificial neural networks (ANNs) since the 70s, and by the 80s, it was already a highly standard technique. He uses this to respond to discussions regarding early (2006) deep neural network training using MATLAB.
