Its CEO, Dario, was previously overconfident that competitors couldn't catch up to their model's performance, leading the company to focus entirely on sheer scale expansion while neglecting the optimization of inference efficiency.
As open-weight models (like DeepSeek) and competitors like Grok 4.5 gradually close the performance gap, the early advantage Anthropic established is disappearing.
