Moonshot has open-sourced Kimi Code CLI under the MIT license, billing it as a free alternative to Claude Code.

- Directly accepts screen recordings as input
- Built-in coder / explore / plan sub-agents, each with independent contexts
- Supports entering plan mode before modifying files
- Agents can self-configure MCP servers via /mcp-config
- Integrates with Zed, JetBrains, and VS Code
