SolarBench: Agent Benchmark for Industrial Ops

Maingen has introduced SolarBench, a new evaluation benchmark designed for industrial maintenance scenarios, aiming to fill the gap left by traditional benchmarks that rarely cover "real-world industrial operations".
The post highlights that industrial maintenance represents a 5T dollar sector in the US economy but requires specific domain knowledge, leading to insufficient coverage by past benchmarks. The authors spent significant time working on-site with solar operations personnel to translate their daily workflows into an "operations desk" for agents.
SolarBench requires agents to complete a simulated "one-week" shift, focusing on evaluating:
- Triage of conflicting alarms
- Multi-step inventory planning
- Maintenance decisions based on expected ROI
This makes it an industrial agent evaluation grounded in real-world workflows, rather than a standard static test set.
