Fable Re-bills After Cache Expiration
mitsuhiko · x · 2026-07-18
fable encountered a billing issue following a cache expiration: a cache miss triggered after 870 minutes of idle time, causing 302k tokens to be re-billed for approximately $3.48.
The focus of this post isn't a product pitch, but rather an exposure of AI services' caching and billing behaviors after prolonged idle periods. If the cache isn't maintained, costs immediately revert to a token-level recalculation.
