On-Chip Neural Network Reconstructs Cortex Activity in Real Time

Science reported a study integrating an artificial neural network directly into memory chips. This system can reconstruct human cortical activity with high precision in real time. The diagram explains this computing-in-memory approach: keeping weights and time steps within memory cells reduces the data transfer latency between memory and compute units found in traditional von Neumann architectures, thereby supporting millisecond-level simulation.
