Wisp: Desktop Context Directly to ChatGPT
Sunnyli1337 · reddit · 2026-07-19
The author built an open-source tool called Wisp, designed to let you send context directly to ChatGPT / Codex from your desktop without juggling windows, copy-pasting, or manually explaining the context.
How it works
- Use a hotkey to summon the context menu
- Select your desired desktop context sources
- Use another hotkey to send your custom prompt to ChatGPT
- View replies and agent actions in a popover or full chat window
Key selling points
- Focuses on reducing the repetitive work of "gathering context + entering prompts"
- Supports granular context control by source
- Keeps a local copy of conversations while supporting continued ChatGPT / Codex sessions
- This workflow can also be run via Claude Agent
