NVIDIA Releases PTX ISA 9.4 with FP8/6/4 Support
zhyncs42 · x · 2026-07-18
NVIDIA has released the PTX ISA 9.4 instruction set architecture. The new version introduces support for low-level low-precision computing, specifically adding addition, subtraction, multiplication, and fused multiply-add (fma) instructions for FP8, FP6, and FP4 data types, along with support for x4 packed types. This will provide more direct hardware support for future GPU-level optimization and model quantized inference.
