ComfyUI Setup Manager
Slight-Living-8098 · reddit · 2026-07-18
The author developed a Setup Manager for ComfyUI to solve the growing difficulty of managing backups, updates, and dependency conflicts for full installations.
The core concept is to avoid saving heavy, monolithic environments. Instead, a working ComfyUI installation is recorded as reproducible instructions and a configuration profile (.comfyuisetup). It tracks:
- ComfyUI repository and exact Git version
- Installed custom nodes and their sources
- Python package versions, system/architecture, and PyTorch/accelerator compatibility info
- Local modifications to the main repository
- Model and workflow dependencies
The tool itself is a standalone terminal app featuring both a Textual UI and a CLI. It supports installing, launching, checking, updating, repairing, exporting, importing, and rebuilding installations.
During updates, it displays proposed changes, protects unrelated packages, and creates rollback snapshots. After updating, it performs package consistency checks and launch/import verifications, automatically attempting to restore to the previous state if a failure occurs.
