According to a repost, Anthropic is still internally discussing whether to proceed with the new version release as planned. Sources indicate that Claude Opus 5 could go live as early as later this week.
Additionally, the original text mentions that they currently do not plan to keep Fable 5 in subscriptions, with eligibility slated to end after July 19. A successor is slated for August to compete with GPT-6. The message also notes that the team believes they could launch an Opus version similar to Fable but with lower inference costs.
