ChatGPT is Becoming an Ad-Free Web Browser
bacon_cake · reddit · 2026-07-17
A Reddit user shared an observation, noting that they increasingly use ChatGPT as an "ad-free, clutter-free" internet browser rather than just a standard LLM.
The author points out that because modern search engines and web pages are plagued by SEO spam and ads, asking an AI for simple information (like recipes, quotes, or basic research) offers a far superior experience to traditional search. However, they also worry that if AI eventually follows Netflix's path into the "commercialized decay" it once swore to avoid, it could negatively impact the entire internet ecosystem.
