The Kimi Team Described as Having More Hunger
SonglinYang4 · x · 2026-07-17
An observation from someone who transitioned from academia to industry. After interacting with multiple companies, they noted several common states among teams: - **Arrogance**: Believing the AI race is already over, lacking the hunger to push forward or hire aggressively. - **Anxiety**: New labs with weak foundations either desperately chasing the frontier or abruptly pivoting. - **Fear**: Capable second-tier teams afraid to genuinely aim for the number one spot. - **Misalignment**: Individuals optimizing for personal contributions and fame, rather than truly caring if the company will achieve AGI. The author felt Kimi was different: after multiple conversations with the founders, their strongest impression was a raw desire for AGI. The author joined the team as a result, stating, "K3 is out, and this is just the beginning."
