Open-Source Conversational Memory Tool for Claude
rohans0509 · reddit · 2026-07-17
The author grew frustrated with Claude forgetting context in new chats: teams spend significant time understanding codebases, fixing bugs, and making decisions, only to repeat themselves whenever a new session starts.
While CLAUDE.md was initially used to log information, the file quickly became too long and unmanageable. This led to the creation of Almanac: a tool that extracts useful context, decisions, pitfalls, and workflows from conversations, automatically saving them into a searchable wiki for Claude.
- Free, open-source, and fully local

- The author is also asking if others using coding agents share this same pain point
