The Decoder · rss · 2026-07-17
According to The Decoder, Kimi is about to launch the K3 model. It is a multimodal open-source model featuring 2.8 trillion parameters and a context window of 1 million tokens.
In official benchmarks, K3's performance closely rivals Claude Fable 5 and GPT 5.6 Sol, while significantly outperforming Opus 4.8 and GLM 5.2 in certain tests. Additionally, the operating cost of K3 has increased notably compared to its predecessor, potentially signaling the end of the ultra-cheap era for domestic AI models. The full model weights are expected to be released on July 27.
