Building a Local Voice AI Study Assistant
joorklee · reddit · 2026-07-17
This post introduces a fully localized voice AI study tool. The author runs huggingface/speech-to-speech and Minachist/Qwen3.6-27B-INT8-Autoround on 4x 5060 Ti (16GB) + 1x 5070 (12GB).
How It Works
Designed as a "Feynman learning" aid:
- The AI prompts the user to explain a concept.
- It automatically extracts the underlying "knowledge scaffolding."
- It asks clarifying questions for each scaffolding point.
- If the user says "I don't know," the system logs it as a weakness.
- Finally, it outputs a list of weaknesses for review.
Intent
The goal isn't casual chat, but to force out gaps in understanding through verbal explanation, thereby reinforcing the learning process.
