Controversy Over Default Trajectory of Superintelligence

Former OpenAI researcher D. Kokotajlo believes that if we actually build superintelligent AI, the default trajectory might resemble "electing a new species" that, when no longer needing humans, competes with and surpasses them.
The retweeter uses this to emphasize that whether this path can actually "end well" is itself a question worth serious discussion.
