Claude Max Quota Proves Highly Limited
SugarRootFruit · reddit · 2026-07-16
The author loves Anthropic's models but raises concerns about their behavior, performance, and communication. The main issue: Anthropic resets usage quotas in its Max plan, and the author had their quota reset two hours before expiry, forcing them to use up whatever was left.
They shared an example of heavily using Claude Code: opening 6 windows for SEO report comparisons, homepage design suggestions, Instagram post reviews, cybersecurity app UI design, single-page PDF redesign, and a security threat scan. In about 20 minutes, they burned through 38% of a full week's quota. Estimated via API equivalent costs, this equates to roughly $243.5, translating to about $1000 in weekly API usage.
The author concludes that for someone integrating AI into every facet of a startup, these subscriptions are practically unusable unless reserved for a few select tasks. They also resist switching to Codex, feeling alternatives lack Claude's "genuine sense of reasoning."
