basedjensen · x · 2026-07-16
Speaking at the Aspen Security Forum, Tarun Chhabra, Anthropic's head of national security policy, stated that the company believes Zhipu is also distilling Claude and OpenAI models to develop GLM-5.2.
He added that:
- Previously named entities include DeepSeek, Alibaba, Moonshot, and MiniMax.
- Anthropic believes DeepSeek is still conducting "adversarial distillation activities."
- They are shutting down distillation-related accounts at a rate of "millions of accounts per week."
- He referred to GLM as "potentially the most advanced Chinese model on the market right now," emphasizing the significant cybersecurity challenges it poses.
- Anthropic might expand access to Mythos to help cyber defenders maintain a "fair fight."
This is a governance and security update centered on model distillation, access controls, and cybersecurity.
