The author argues that the fundamental way modern AI is created is by having the model mimic every piece of text and every author on the internet. While acknowledging that this method "does work," they find it difficult to trust such systems with significant responsibility. If an entity's capabilities stem from mass imitation of web content, it's hard to argue it is inherently suited for high-stakes scenarios.
