Do LLMs Only Have a Few Months of Advantage?

The author estimates that OpenAI and Anthropic might only have a 4–6 month advantage window. Their core points are:
- The market will soon start asking why a model that is "so powerful" requires billions of dollars to build.
- They believe Chinese models don't necessarily need to surpass fable or sol first. As long as they get close to Opus 4.8 / GPT-5.5 and offer strong locally/self-hostable solutions, competitive pressure will ramp up significantly.
- The focus isn't on winning a single leaderboard, but rather the business and ecosystem shock brought by being "powerful enough + deployable + cheaper."
