Turn Claude Scripts Into One-Click Automation Keypads
skdh · x · 2026-07-16
The author transformed the messy chore of organizing their Downloads folder into a single-click automated sorting process.
They first had Claude write a script to categorize files by type, which they then mapped to a custom-built 3x3 keypad:
- One key tidies up the downloads directory
- Another executes FreeCAD exports, renames STL files by date, opens the slicer software, and sends the job to the 3D printer
- The setup includes custom hardware, firmware, an OLED screen, and a Windows application
The underlying philosophy: turn any repetitive, multi-step task into a button-triggered AI automation.
