Key conclusions from the report include:
- Healthcare has moved beyond the pilot phase: Over 80% of healthcare leaders have deployed at least one AI use case, making healthcare one of the fastest-adopting AI industries.
- Good benchmarks don't equal good products: Models score high on medical exams, but performance drops significantly in real clinical workflows facing missing data, interruptions, and complex edge cases.
- Safety is improving but still insufficient: On the NOHARM benchmark, leading models still make an error roughly once every 14 clinical consultations, mostly due to omitting critical information rather than hallucinating.
- The most effective use cases are "chores": Administrative tasks like documentation, inbox management, and coding show the clearest ROI; more autonomous clinical workflows are progressing but have higher barriers.
- Patient-side adoption is accelerating: AI is becoming a common source for consumers to get health information, with adoption rates roughly doubling in the past year, while healthcare institutions are still figuring out how to respond.
- The biggest current challenge is trust: Models will continue to improve, but the critical question becomes who can prove the tools are safe, reliable, and genuinely capable of improving clinical outcomes.
