Real-World Impact of AI-Personalized Practice Paths

Eva Saint-Étienne and Olivier Clerc (GAIMHE / Bpifrance) conducted an activity-level progress analysis on the dataset. Background: As adoption by teachers and students grew, ZPDES accumulated data from 6 million exercises and over 40,000 students, split into two paths: a ZPDES personalized path and a teacher-curated playlist path, to measure real-world gains.
The authors then scaled this research to an industrial-level edtech scenario: ZPDES was integrated into MIA Seconde and rolled out to all high schools in France last year with the support of the French Ministry of Education. The post emphasizes that this is a rare opportunity to compare the effectiveness of AI personalization against human-curated paths in real-world usage.
