Tool Ownership for Multi-Team AI Agents
Lonely_Walrus4672 · reddit · 2026-07-15
The author assigned a 'product orchestrator agent' to each product team, but tool wrappers are currently in each codebase, raising scalability concerns.
Weighing three approaches:
- Continue hand-writing tool wrappers per squad by agent maintainers (bottleneck risk)
- Use MCP for each squad to expose capabilities, standardizing tool interfaces
- Concerned that with network-reachable services in Kubernetes, adding another transport layer may be overkill.
Key interests:
- How to delegate tool ownership
- Tool discovery/registration
- Maintaining governance, security, audit, and lifecycle management as agents scale.
