Buffett on Alphabet and AI CapEx
firstadopter · x · 2026-07-15
Berkshire Hathaway's recent major investment in Alphabet was driven by Warren Buffett himself, not new CEO Greg Abel.
Buffett stated he looks for businesses capable of generating high returns on capital over the long term, though he admitted Alphabet isn't among his top four or five favorite Berkshire holdings. He also pointed out that Google and its competitors are pouring "hundreds of billions of dollars" into the AI race, emphasizing that such massive capital pressure will become a core industry challenge.
