Building Public Health Reasoning Games with LLMs
sylvatic-cycle-soph · reddit · 2026-07-15
The author is developing two LLM-based text games and is seeking playtesters and feedback:
- Diagnostic Detective: Players act as doctors, making diagnoses based on patient info, test results, and treatment feedback.
- Outbreak Investigator: Players investigate disease or health outbreaks to identify the cause, transmission routes, and interventions.
Both games feature a "Non-Expert Mode" for those unfamiliar with medical and public health terminology. The author also raises a few practical questions:
- How to prompt the LLM to provide moderate hints that help without giving away the answer.
- How to reduce token consumption while preserving core gameplay.
- Whether such games are genuinely fun and can impart new knowledge.
