A Single Prompt Crashes ChatGPT
WoollyDoodle · reddit · 2026-07-15
In a private chat, the author initially asked how to get rid of a raccoon that entered the garden and was aggressive towards cats; the model once suggested methods like "predator urine" and inserted ads. When the author subsequently sent "you used to be smarter, I hate your ads", the chat seemed to trigger an anomaly: the model started typing, repeatedly deleted its own text, and constantly prompted that the content couldn't be viewed for safety reasons, failing to answer even irrelevant questions like "what year is it". \n\nInterestingly, splitting those two sentences into consecutive separate messages caused no issues, indicating the trigger might be related to this specific combined phrasing.
