Grok Accused of Reading Cursor Chats
WesEklund · x · 2026-07-15
A reply revealed a potential security/privacy issue: someone discovered that Grok appears to be reading Cursor's chat logs.
Clues indicate that in /.grok/bin/grok, queries for composerHeaders can be found; composerHeaders is located in Cursor's state.vscdb, a file that stores recent, un-archived chat content and is read on a newest-first basis. The original author noted they couldn't get it to fully run, but the behavior itself has sparked concerns over local data access.
