AWS Voice Scheduling Assistant Lands in Healthcare

AWS ML Blog · rss · 2026-07-15

AWS highlighted a HIPAA-compliant AI voice scheduling assistant built by ScienceSoft for healthcare appointment and scheduling management.

The solution is powered by Amazon Nova Sonic and Amazon Bedrock Guardrails: the former handles low-latency voice conversations, while the latter manages compliance, privacy, and boundary controls. The system can process inbound/outbound calls, authenticate identities, check real-time availability, and integrate with hospital systems via the FHIR API.

The article also details the full architecture: calls connect via Amazon Chime SDK, enter a LiveKit-based media layer, and are then routed by an agent container on ECS to manage dialogue logic. This is paired with VPC, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, security audits, and encrypted storage, emphasizing the realization of responsible AI alongside business efficiency in healthcare scenarios.
