Anam Launches Real-Time Emotive Avatar Model
benanam · hn · 2026-07-14
Anam released a new real-time avatar model, cara-4, designed to naturally shift emotions and expressions during conversations through a capability they call "Director Notes".
The implementation involves an LLM generating cues like [laughter], [sad], or [warm], which are then conditioned into the animation model. It operates as a two-stage system: the first converts audio and text into motion embeddings (head pose, gaze, lip sync, expressions), and the second renders these onto a reference image, allowing it to work on new faces without fine-tuning.
