DeepMind Reconstructs Pelé's Lost Goal

Google DeepMind released a project using Gemini Omni and Veo to reconstruct Pelé's never-filmed "Rua Javari" goal from August 2, 1959. The team collaborated with historians, sports journalists, football stars, and Pelé's family, combining historical fragments, on-location filming, vintage jerseys, and footballs to turn this memory into viewable footage.
The project emphasizes education and cultural preservation and has been exhibited in the Pelé Museum. DeepMind also specifically noted that this project was completed through an official partnership with the Pelé Brand and the managers of Pelé's estate.
