Alibaba Proposes New Doc ID Design for Generative Retrieval
This work explores a new approach "beyond semantic IDs": in generative retrieval, document identifiers should not only handle semantic clustering but also encode business value ranking.\n
The core idea is to decouple "grouping semantically similar documents" from "prioritizing high business value results," making the representation design in generative retrieval better aligned with actual ranking objectives.
