Claude Code Runs Natively on Windows XP
HearMeOut-13 · reddit · 2026-07-14
The author shared a WIP update on running Claude Code natively on Windows XP, emphasizing that it is a local Node process connecting directly to the Anthropic API without offloading execution via SSH/RDP.
Currently working features include login, chat, web search, and the basic UI. Features not yet working include other toolchains, as they rely on bash which is incompatible with XP; additionally, Platform(API) login and Azure/Bedrock login are not yet functional. The author mentions that further updates will follow and that they bought a GX280 for a bare-metal demonstration.
