A developer shared the real-world results after turning their API into an agent-native paid interface:
- They hadn't even heard of x402 three days prior. Soon after, an AI agent autonomously discovered their API, evaluated the price, and made 5 paid calls within 96 seconds.
- Each payment was $0.01, settled using USDC on Base. The entire process required no accounts, no API keys, and zero human intervention.
- Purchases included:
- SpaceX / Starship / Starlink launch data
- A historical engineering plate page from a 1588 document
- The service was designed as a pay-per-request data API with two product lines:
- Real-time space data: $0.01–0.02/request
- Historical engineering plates: $0.05–0.10/request
