Claude Code Generates an Infinite City World

PhonicUK · reddit · 2026-07-14

The author challenged Claude Code with an absurdly massive task: generating an infinite world featuring cities, explorable building interiors, NPC daily routines, public transit, and a day-night cycle.

Built in about two weeks, the system features NPCs that wake up, commute, socialize, eat, and head home. Players can travel between cities via trains, and use buses and subways within them. The foundation uses an integerized nested Wave-function collapse generator: coarse large-scale generation is progressively refined down to building interiors and individual objects.

The author showcased a demo video and promised future deep dives into the system's architecture and how Claude was kept from losing context in such a massive project.
