What Jobs Will AI Leave for Humans

The author shares slides from their keynote at ICML in Seoul, titled “What will be left for us to work on?”, exploring what work will remain for humans as AI capabilities continue to advance.
Their three core points are:
- The "AI as Normal Technology" framework still holds: Unless a discontinuous shift like recursive self-improvement occurs, viewing AI as a technology that will gradually reshape the economy is the best way to understand its impact.
- No single lab milestone will cause sudden global unemployment: Even if we take recursive self-improvement seriously, we shouldn't expect a single point in time to instantly replace everyone.
- The future of work will be fundamentally different: Humans will need to adapt at scale. The author uses the term "human/AI co-superintelligence" to describe a potential collaborative paradigm.
