Open-Source 4-GPU Local AI Computer

dee_hw · x · 2026-07-14

This thread introduces the design concept of a 4-GPU machine for local AI: the author treats chassis geometry, cooling, and airflow as core issues, rather than just cramming four cards into a standard case.

Using Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural ideas as an analogy for GPU placement: via PCIe risers, each card stands independently with its own intake path, and the four-card layout forms a 'centripetal/windmill' structure to improve airflow and cooling.

Finally, the entire build is open-source, including STEP files, BOM, BIOS tuning, software setup, and assembly guide, aiming to create a 'computer that can be displayed in a room' while balancing aesthetics, freedom, and local AI capabilities.
