Building an AI Image Editor with ComfyUI

The author is developing a project called Ghostwryte, aiming not to build another ComfyUI frontend, but to package AI generation capabilities into an experience resembling a traditional image editor.
Planned features include:
- A Photoshop-like interface: layers, brushes, masks, transforms, and menu systems
- An AI engine powered by ComfyUI, supporting text-to-image, image-to-image, inpainting, outpainting, background removal, and upscaling
- Support for multiple reference images and custom model paths
- Plans to eventually package it as an Electron desktop app
The author also mentions writing a custom background removal node for BiRefNet to avoid relying on third-party maintenance for critical features.
