Unitree G1 Becomes Default Platform for Humanoid Research

At the RSS 2026 humanoid robotics session, 12 out of 13 papers used the Unitree G1 for real-world evaluation.
The author concludes that G1 has become the default physical platform for this generation of humanoid robotics research. Despite some negative buzz around its IPO, its penetration in the academic community proves it has already "won".
