Claude Fable5 Breaks Through Stalled Research

Japanese mathematical physicist Yuji Tachikawa shared that he used Claude Fable5 to help with a collaborative research project stalled for about 6 months. The model identified a calculation error, proposed a new approach, and helped push the project to a breakthrough.
He noted that Fable5 proactively used SymPy to write code for numerical verification, which he manually checked with positive results. Although not a systematic test, he felt Fable5 outperformed ChatGPT 5.5 Pro.
This sparked community discussion about AI's role in scientific collaboration, showing models can do more than regurgitate knowledge—they might help find derivation flaws and unblock stalled problems. Additionally, Anthropic announced extended access for Claude Fable5 for paid users and a 50% weekly quota increase for Claude Code, valid until July 19.
