Treat AI as Descendants, Not Aliens

Quoting Robin Hanson: the flaw in the stance of "Pause AI" advocates is that they view AI as an antagonistic alien species, rather than a continuation that will become our "descendants." The author argues that from this perspective, it is more reasonable to constrain and guide AI just as parents guide toddlers, managing potential harms without assuming that future intelligent agents will inevitably "kill their parents."
