OpenAI was caught quietly lowering the reasoning effort of GPT-5.6 Sol, and subsequently confirmed rolling back the change.
The post also noted that the model's context window was reduced from 372k back to 272k. This points to an unannounced tweak to model parameters/capabilities, rather than just typical user experience complaints.
