Musk on Blindsight Vision Restoration
r0ck3t23 · x · 2026-07-13
Musk discussed Neuralink's Blindsight: it aims to help completely blind people "see" again, including those who have lost their eyes or optic nerves, and potentially even those born blind. The concept isn't to repair damaged eyes, but to bypass the biological visual system and feed synthetic signals directly into the visual cortex.
The post further emphasizes that human vision is essentially just a small sample of the electromagnetic spectrum. If future integrations include infrared, ultraviolet, or radar data, those with restored vision might even achieve a broader perceptual range than the average person.
