Claude Code Consumes More Tokens Than OpenCode

Suspecting from personal experience that Claude Code was more token-hungry, the author conducted a small empirical study by logging between an agentic coding tool and Anthropic endpoints to capture all requests and usage data.
The conclusion: Claude Code is noticeably less efficient than OpenCode regarding caching strategies and harness token usage. The post acknowledges a specific caveat, but the overall judgment remains very clear.
