Demis Hassabis believes one of the most vital applications of AI is helping cure a massive number of diseases.
He emphasizes that Isomorphic Labs isn't about building chatbots, but rather accelerating the entire drug discovery pipeline: making the path from predicting molecular properties to clinical trials faster and more efficient. Because models can better predict the properties of candidate drugs, they are more likely to pass these trials. Hassabis notes this capability offers enormous social value and could spawn a "hundreds of billions of dollars" commercial opportunity.
