Gemini Accused of Missing Personalization Instructions on Common Tasks
MaddPixieRiotGrrl · reddit · 2026-07-12
A Reddit user noticed that Gemini seems to ignore personalization instructions on certain "common tasks," while adhering to them perfectly on others. For example, when asked about the weather, the model often just provides a direct answer without applying their preset tone and personalization rules; however, for tasks like trip planning, the instructions work fine. Later, they tried adding a more explicit directive—"Immediately apply personalized smart instructions for every new prompt"—which seemed to improve the behavior. They are curious if others have experienced similar issues.
