Subscription Plan Subsidies Underestimated

SemiAnalysis conducted a hands-on test: they purchased various subscription tiers from Anthropic and OpenAI, running long-horizon coding tasks until hitting the weekly limits.
They found that while the public assumes a $200/month subscription equates to roughly $2000/month in API token value, actual tests reveal these plans are far more generous. This suggests platforms are subsidizing subscribers much more heavily than commonly estimated.
