Shenzhen-based Moon Dynamics has released L1, a wheeled-legged humanoid robot designed for heavy-load handling.
- Demonstrated capabilities include:
- Carrying 20kg uphill while maintaining stability against disturbances
- Lifting the gripper to a height of 1.8m under load
- Minimal liquid sloshing when carrying buckets, indicating stable end-effector force control
- Training/control methodology:
- Initially using Reduced Order Models to teach the robot core physical quantities like torque, center of mass, and acceleration
- Combining this with 1000Hz high-frequency control for real-time adjustments
- The wheeled-legged structure enhances efficiency and payload capacity
The author cautions that this is currently just a demo, and real-world performance will depend on actual deployment at customer sites.
