PTLD: Dexterous Manipulation Without Tactile Simulation

This post introduces a method called PTLD for learning tactile dexterous control policies without the need for tactile sensor simulation.
The author notes that while tactile feedback is crucial for highly dexterous manipulation, data collection remains a bottleneck:
- Teleoperation of multi-finger hands is difficult, making sim-to-real transfer necessary
- Yet, accurately simulating touch remains a massive challenge
Therefore, this research attempts to bypass the "tactile simulation" step entirely by directly learning transferable policies.
